let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

This mornings walk to work made me realize one thing: I have GOT to ask Santa for a pair of rubber boots to get to work. Luckily, I brought my work clothes in a backpack to change into when I got there so I would not be freezing and soaked, but the socks still suffered some major damage. I have a love/hate relationship with snow.

Today I had 2 tasks: make more tartlet shells for 5 hours, and for the 6th, chop herbs. Obviously, no pictures were taken except for 2. They are the most beautiful pictures ever. Alphonso, the perfect man that he is, surprised me with this around 1:00.

Cue the angels singing.

This, ladies and gentleman, is the crab and brie panini. Served at the Napa Valley Grille, this sandwich is my little version of heaven on earth. Two thick slices of brie, lump crabmeat, and tomatoes sandwiched between crispy, buttery BRIOCHE bread. What is brioche you ask? Brioche is challah bread’s older, wiser, grandfather. Its a sweet, rich, buttery bread that could easily be served on its own with a cup of coffee in the morning. To be apart of this sandwich is absolute ridiculousness. 3/4’s of the way into this half of sandwich I was SO full, but thought to myself, “am I really about to throw away crab, brie, and brioche bread?” Within seconds I looked down at my empty plate and was so happy I literally started clapping.   That made my entire day.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a very busy day. I hope I make it out alive!!

  1. I can’t wait to go try Napa Valley. I haven’t been since it opened when I was in high school!

    • The menu changes daily which is one of my favorite things about it. It’s technically a “chain” but the restaurants can generally do whatever they want with whatever is in season. I can’t wait for you to come you’re going to love it!

I normally do not eat lunch, but that sandwich has made me soooooo hungry! Can’t wait to visit with you next week. Love, DAD

  3. Sammy,
I’m officially nominating you the Carrie Bradshaw of cooking! I love it.
